Legal Consultations

The primary focus of my law practice is to answer your legal questions, explain the law in a way that is clear and understandable, and provide meaningful advice.  Consultations are booked through my website at a time and a date convenient to your schedule.  All consultations are online through Zoom, Microsoft Meetings, or a similar service provider.  You remain at home, on your computer or smartphone.  Consultations are booked for thirty minutes and follow-up consultations are welcome.

Document Review

I have reviewed hundreds of legal documents, both the simple and complex, and can explain them to you in a manner that is in plain English.  My goal is to make the complex understandable.  Frequently, the document you have received will require a response from you and the failure to respond will put you in serious legal jeopardy.  I can identify those requirements and draft a response that protects you and your legal rights.

.03

Legal Research

Some legal questions are easily answered.  “Do I need a will?”  Others are much more more complex.  “I have a letter from my credit card company saying they are going to sue me even though I am not behind on my payments…can they do that?”  I can conduct the necessary legal research that you need to make a good decision and draft a response letter for you.

Drafting and Preparing Legal Documents

I can draft and prepare legal documents for you quickly and less expensive than the traditional law firm.  These legal documents are extremely important.   It is imperative that legal documents be prepared and signed properly as required by Law and in accordance with your needs and instructions.  I have over forty years of experience drafting Wills, Trusts and Powers of Attorney, as well as Deeds, Mortgages, Contracts and other legal documents.  Notary Services are available.

Assistance in Self Representation

Let’s face it….legal fees can be very expensive.  Are there cases where you could represent yourself if you had a competent attorney advising you?  Yes!  Here are a few examples.
Traffic Tickets.  I can show you how to get the ticket reduced or dismissed altogether.
Uncontested Divorce.  You and your spouse have decided to get a divorce and are in agreement as to how to resolve any issues such as child custody and support, property division, grounds for divorce and so forth.  I can draft all the necessary pleadings, separation agreements, and final decrees that will you will need.
Magistrate’s Court.  In South Carolina, Magistrate’s Court handles misdemeanor criminal offenses and small claim civil cases.  In North Carolina, District Court handles misdemeanor  criminal offenses and small claim civil cases.  While you can have an attorney in those courts, oftentimes you can resolve the matter by yourself without an attorney.  I can assist you with those cases without the expense of hiring a lawyer to go to court with you.

I Can Advise and Assist You in These Areas of the Law:

  • Adoptions

The act of one who takes another’s child into his own family, treating him as his own, and giving him all the legal rights and duties of his own child.

  • Bankruptcy

A court proceeding in The United States Federal Court having jurisdiction in bankruptcy, founded on a petition in bankruptcy, with the goal of discharging the debts of the Petitioner. Bankruptcy may be voluntary (Chapter 13) or involuntary (Chapter 7).

  • Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning

Estate planning is the process of deciding who will inherit your property upon your death and giving power to someone you trust to manage your affairs during your lifetime, should you become incapacitated.
