James L. Goldsmith, Jr., known as "Skip" to his family and friends, has practiced Law for over forty years handling thousands of cases ranging from Death Penalty Murder to preparing simple wills for his clients, as well as numerous other areas of the Law listed on our Services page. Skip is a member of the Bar in South Carolina, North Carolina, the Federal District Courts and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, with undergraduate, masters and law degrees.

James "Skip" Goldsmith is the sole practitioner at Carolina Lawyer Online, assisted by his two Golden Retriever "paralegals," Ranger and Toby, who you might see or hear during your online consultations.

Carolina Lawyer Online is a radically different way of providing legal services to citizens who need to discuss a legal matter with a competent attorney, receive valuable legal advice about their situation and understand how the legal system can work for them to resolve their problem.  Interviews are conducted by Zoom, or similar online meeting platforms, confidentially and with a first rate competence that only comes with years of high level legal experience.
